Diluvium
Starting from a fantastic repertoire, populated by hybrid beings such as stone‑plants, living fossils and animated crystals, the artist’s book Diluvium, which collects the drawings of artist Fabio Marullo, made with the technique of ink on parchment paper, accompanied by a short story by Elisa Prete, suggests a visual and narrative path between science and imagination.
The surreal existence of these tiny fragment-like creatures is set in the mythological time of origin: the chapters of the book correspond to the seven days of Creation, a time frame in which biology takes unlikely paths.
The sequence of images and the progression of the text proceed from full to empty: two extreme conditions in which beings show personality and adaptability; a resilience that makes possible, according to the law of conservation of mass, the final palindrome of the narrative.
